John specializes in working with corporate employees and executives in planning for retirement and managing their wealth. He has 30 years of experience helping clients evaluate their pre- and post-retirement planning goals, which involves customized financial analysis and portfolio management. He values a long-term approach to investing and is independent of any brand, allowing him to give unbiased advice. John has been a featured speaker at numerous financial planning, investment and retirement planning seminars throughout the Bay Area. He has also been published in the Wall Street Journal’s real estate publication, RealEstateJournal.com and has been selected as a Five Star Wealth Manager from 2012 – 2023, which are featured in the November issues of Diablo Magazine.

John is a financial advisor with California Financial Advisors in San Ramon, CA. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from California State University, Chico, in 1992. While at the university, he also completed the Financial Planning curriculum authorized by the International Board of Standards and Practices for Certified Financial Planners (IBCFP).

John received his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation from The American College based in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania in 1997 and also earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation from The American College in 2016.

John enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and attending their children's sporting events.

Credentialed as a registered investment adviser (RIA) or a registered investment adviser representative; 2. Actively licensed as a RIA or as a principal of a registered investment adviser firm for a minimum of 5 years; 3. Favorable regulatory and complaint history review (As defined by FSP, the wealth manager has not; A. Been subject to a regulatory action that resulted in a license being suspended or revoked, or payment of a fine; B. Had more than a total of three settled or pending complaints filed against them and/or a total of five settled, pending, dismissed or denied complaints with any regulatory authority or FSP's consumer complaint process. Unfavorable feedback may have been discovered through a check of complaints registered with a regulatory authority or complaints registered through FSP's consumer complaint process; feedback may not be representative of any one client's experience; C. Individually contributed to a financial settlement of a customer complaint; D. Filed for personal bankruptcy within the past 11 years; E. Been terminated from a financial services firm within the past 11 years; F. Been convicted of a felony); 4. Fulfilled their firm review based on internal standards; 5. Accepting new clients.
