PHILANTHROPy & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES - LOCALLY & GLOBALLY

• *Moretti Foundation Refugee Scholars Program in Rwanda. Since 2020, we have provided full scholarships for 81 refugees to attend college at one of our two affiliated institutions, including Akilah Institute-Davis College and Kepler College/ SNHU (Southern New Hampshire University). 
• *Moretti Foundation founded the Mahama English Club (MEC) in 2016, as an educational support and English language training program for Burundian refugees who had fled violence in their country. This large-scale project has been coordinated through Save the Children and other NGO's in Mahama Refugee Camp under guidance of UNHCR-MINEMA.
• *Moretti Foundation hosted a free eye-care clinic for refugees at Mahama Refugee Camp, in 2017 and 2018. We provided free eye exams with a licensed ophthalmologist for hundreds of refugees, provided free eyeglasses, and medical scripts for cataract surgery which substantially changed the lives of refugees at Mahama Camp.
• Involved in various research and strategic partnerships relating to paralysis research and spinal cord injury, including The Luke Moretti Ipad Project with Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation,  The Miami Project and The Buoniconti Fund.   
• Active Member serving on The Scarsdale Council on People with Disabilities (2023-2025)
• Active contributor and participant, along with my husband who serves on New York Chapters of several African Wildlife organizations including African Parks, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Cheetah Conservation Fund, and World Wildlife Fund.
• Active supporter of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundaton), now known as BreakthroughT1D. The early death of my sister, Teresa, who struggled with Type 1 Diabetes has been an important and defining influence in my life.

We are investors in AI Optics, an exciting start-up founded by our son, Luke Moretti. AI Optics is a medtech device that diagnoses early stage diabetic retinopathy (DR). This handheld imaging technology captures images of the human eye and uses AI to screen for diabetic retinopathy. We are proud to be part of this game-changer technology company which is poised to help thousands of people with diabetes and medical professionals to diagnose this disease which is one of the leading causes of blindness in America.
