Professional Approach
Scott is the Co-Founder and a principal wealth advisor at Tru Financial Strategies. He’s passionate about helping clients enter the distribution phase of retirement by reviewing their financial picture and exploring custom strategies designed to support their long-term goals.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, in 1978. Scott also holds a Series 65 securities license and serves as a financial advisor with fiduciary responsibility. He is also a licensed insurance professional.
Scott began his career in financial services as an independent licensed insurance professional because he saw a way to make an impact on people’s lives by helping them plan for a successful retirement. “I saw how proper planning can make a difference in the stability of our financial future, and I wanted to help others to do the same.”
Scott takes a thorough and client-centered approach to retirement planning. He works with individuals to assess key areas of their financial strategy, such as income sources, Social Security, asset allocation, and tax and estate considerations. By helping clients coordinate these elements, Scott works with them to build plans that reflect their goals and unique circumstances.
Since 1986, Scott has also served as a volunteer board member on the Board of Directors for H.C.L. Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a purpose to educate patients and physicians and to raise funds for research and treatment for Hairy Cell Leukemia.
Scott and his wife Kim have been active members in their church community since 1985. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, boating, traveling, and flying. They reside in Elgin, Illinois, and have been blessed with two wonderful daughters, Christy and Bethany, a terrific son-in-law, Nathan, and five beautiful grandchildren.
