Five Star Professional, as a third-party research firm, administered a survey, by mail and phone, to 1 in 4 high-net-worth households (over 142,000 consumers) and registered financial services representatives (over 5,000 financial services professionals) to evaluate the approximately 11,500 wealth managers in the Detroit area (includes Genesee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, Wayne counties in the state of Michigan). The evaluation was based on nine criteria, including customer service, integrity, knowledge/expertise, communication, value for fee charged, meeting of financial objectives, post sale service, quality of recommendations, and overall satisfaction. After review by a panel of local industry experts and a review of regulatory history, Five Star Professional determined the final list of 2011 Five Star Wealth Managers scoring highest in overall satisfaction and representing less than 7% of the wealth managers in the Detroit area.
• Five Star Wealth Managers do not pay a fee to be included in the research or the final list of Five Star Wealth Managers.
• Only wealth managers with more than five years of experience in the financial services industry are considered.
• The overall evaluation score of a wealth manager reflects an average of all respondents and may not be representative of any one client's experience.
• The Five Star award is not indicative of the wealth manager's future performance.
• Wealth managers may or may not use discretion in their practice and therefore may not manage their client's assets.
• The inclusion of a wealth manager on the Five Star Wealth Manager list should not be construed as an endorsement of the wealth manager by Five Star Professional, HOUR Detroit or DBusiness.
• Please keep in mind that working with a Five Star Wealth Manager is no guarantee as to the future investment success nor is there any guarantee that the selected wealth managers will be awarded this accomplishment in the future.
