Ted combines his extensive knowledge of commercial and investment markets to help clients purchase and sell companies, make strategic investments, arrange financing, and operate profitably. As a strategic partner, Ted helps clients discern opportunities and make strategic connections that add value to their business. He leads his clients to match their legal structure with business goals and navigate the complexities of growing their business.
Ted's legal practice focuses on representing companies, lenders, and private equity funds in complex transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and financings (public and private debt and equity placements) in the United States and internationally. Ted provides in-depth advice to large and small businesses regarding all aspects of the operation of a business, from the selection and formation of the most appropriate entity for the business to the negotiation and drafting of the many different agreements necessary to conduct business. He also provides legal representation to clients involved in commercial and industrial real estate ventures.
He has specific experience with private capital funds and takes a leadership role in fund formation, offering document preparation, resolution of tax and securities issues and handling fund portfolio financings and acquisitions on a domestic and international scale. He regularly handles complex debt and equity financings from small deals to those exceeding one billion dollars.
Ted is the founder and managing member of Estabrook Funds, a multi-asset absolute return hedge fund. With a fifteen-year track record, this fund-of-funds is one of the first of its kind in the United States. Ted is an arbitrator for complex commercial disputes through the American Arbitration Association. He has resolved dozens of commercial claims relative to matters such as loans, securities fraud, merger and acquisition, professional sports contracts and other complex business issues. He is the author of the book, "Drafting Business Contracts," which was published in 2010.

Five Star Professional, as a third party research firm, identified pre-qualified award candidates based on industry data and contacted all identified broker dealers, Registered Investment Advisor firms and FINRA-registered representatives in the Denver area (includes Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Adams, Arapahoe and Broomfield counties in the state of Colorado) to gather wealth manager nominations. Self-nominations were not accepted.
Award candidates were then evaluated against 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria associated with wealth managers who provide quality services to their clients such as client retention rates, client assets administered, firm review and a favorable regulatory and complaint history. Five Star Professional finalized the list of 2012 Five Star Wealth Managers to be no more than 7% of the approximately 15,900 wealth managers in the area. 1,965 award candidates in the Denver area were considered for the award, of which 611 were named 2012 Five Star Wealth Managers.
